Trey + Katie • Wedding at Eberley Brooks

PHOTOGRAPHYlissa-anglinComment

Katie and Trey's wedding was extra special for us because Trey is my cousin and we love them so! It was a big honor to me that they would choose us as their photographers- and of course made us want to work that much harder. Shooting this wedding was a complete pleasure- it's not often that our own kids show up while we are working (thanks Mom and Dad!)- but Katie's family and friends were also so wonderful and fun.

Lubbock decided to have 40 mph winds the day of their wedding, so I was extra thankful for the beautiful interior of Eberley Brooks Event Center. It is so perfectly set up. My mom and many helpers worked hard on all of the florals, and the bridesmaids even made their own bouquets the night before- and it all turned out so beautifully.

Mostly, though- and this is the part I enjoy about getting to see Katie and Trey often, because it hasn't changed since their wedding day- I loved getting to see how perfectly these two go together. Katie looks at Trey just the way you would hope a bride would look at her groom. There is a peaceful hope about her that I just love, and I'm so happy to see the man that Trey has become. They both love Jesus, and I can't wait to see what God does with this new union.

Thank you for the honor, Trey and Katie! Congratulations- we love you!

Carter + Katelin's wedding was at First Christian Church in Lubbock- one of my favorite churches to photograph because of all the Spanish architecture. To add to that, this bride and groom were absolutely wonderful to work with. They are both incredibly thoughtful people- and their wedding had a timeless, classic feel that I loved soaking up.

We had enough time before the ceremony to get some dramatic portraits of both Carter and Katelin- and shooting those images was not only fun but inspiring- they were the perfect subjects for that type of light and I'm thankful for their willingness to experiment with me.

Congratulations, you two! Wishing you a lifetime of great adventures.

I felt so honored to get to photograph Evan and Winmarie's wedding day. When I met with them last year, I could tell that hiring me had been something they really thought over and did with intention- which totally makes me want to work my tail off! It was so much fun to get to see them start their marriage. The Legacy was a perfect venue, as always, and many traveled from far away to see them say their vows. Thanks so much for having us, you guys! Congrats!

jarrett + crista • wedding • first presbyterian church, amarillo

Jarrett + Crista's wedding was my first to shoot after having Liv, and it was such a warm welcome back to the work I love! I really can't say enough about these two- and the family/community they have. Jarrett and Crista are both very intentional people, and that was reflected in so many special ways throughout their day. Leading up to the ceremony, I loved photographing these two as they joyfully anticipated their union as husband and wife. The ceremony was special- Crista's family has a special tradition of the shofar being played at the beginning, as the groom enters the room. They had their bridal party surround them at the altar- a literal cloud of witnesses. Everyone, including the guests, took part in communion as worship. It was a reverent and God-glorifying time- followed by a wonderful celebration!

At the reception, guests enjoyed delicious food, music, and cake. Crista's cake was classic and elegant, and Jarrett's was a nod to his family's business- Fiesta Foods.  It was clear these two were so glad to be married! They left with a tortilla send-off, which was fun and chaotic and a beautiful ending to the day. Thank you both for trusting me with such a special time!

david + kay • wedding • spirit ranch

It rained all morning and most of the afternoon on David + Kay's wedding day. I can't lie and say that it didn't add an extra layer of stress, considering the beautiful outdoor ceremony Kay had envisioned- but what is most amazing about how the rain affected this day is that it only made things better. Spirit Ranch (one of my favorite venues here in Lubbock) was transformed into this moody, romantic, intimate place with the cloud cover. Thankfully, David and Kay were up for shooting outside in the sprinkles and it made for some beautiful images. The wetness did force us inside for the ceremony, but it also forced us all to remember what was most important- that these two would be married, and that their friends and family were all there to see it.

These two are true artisans, and incorporated much of their own music into their day. David wrote and performed a song to propose to Kay, which they also danced to- and each of them also wrote and recorded songs for their parents, which was played during those dances. It was very special.

Did I mention I love October weddings? If not, I do. I love the colors, the cool in the air, and the people. Brides- please get married in October. And don't be afraid to walk in the wet leaves. That's where the best pictures are. :)

chris + olivia • wedding • marquardt ranch, boerne, texas

October in the Hill Country. I am not sure there is a more perfect alignment of weather and location- it was so crisp and beautiful in the quaint little town of Boerne, Texas. Shawn and I got to photograph Chris + Olivia's wedding at The Marquardt Ranch earlier this month and it was a treat. Really- the food was EXCELLENT. That may have something to do with the fact that Chris is one of the owners of Green Vegetarian Cuisine, and they, of course, catered the celebration. It was the most delicious vegetarian (and in many cases vegan) food I've ever had! If you are in the San Antonio area- go check out the restaurant!

The wedding itself was so beautiful- the ceremony looked out over a cliff with an amazing view of the hill country- and the couple's laid-back yet sophisticated style was displayed in their details. I loved Olivia's dress and especially Olivia in it- such a gorgeous bride! Most of all, I appreciated Chris + Olivia's trust in us as their photographers. Many blessings to you both!

bailey's bridal shoot • lubbock

A girl and her wedding dress…they say it's almost as difficult to find a wedding dress as it is a groom! I love getting to see my brides' selections in wedding attire- it is such a direct extension of their own personalities and style. Bailey's dress was absolutely perfect for her. Seeing her in in it, I felt like it was designed solely for her to wear it. Bailey is courageous, artistic, and so much fun. I had a great time with her and her mom at this bridal shoot. Here are a few of my favorites!

Stay tuned for part two of this photoshoot- more to come! :)

jacob + megan • wedding • kent hence chapel + frazier alumni pavilion

When I think back about Megan and Jacob's wedding day, I will remember all the sentimental moments that I witnessed throughout their day. Neither Jacob nor Megan grew up here in Lubbock, but they did meet and get engaged at Texas Tech, and when it came time to plan their big day, they decided on a "destination Lubbock" wedding. :) This meant that they'd be right back where it all began- the Tech campus, and that their friends and families would be traveling with intent to share in their celebration. All of those elements combined created a really special time. It just so happened that Megan's sister is a professional wedding planner, who ensured that everything went perfectly. It really did. The weather was unusually beautiful that January day.

I loved the grey of the dresses the bridesmaids wore, and Megan's dress fit her so perfectly. At the reception, they had a hot chocolate bar and a fire burning in the gorgeous fireplace at the Frazier Alumni Pavilion. The perfect way to do a winter wedding.

Here are some (*cough*, a ton) of my favorites. I am so, so thankful to Kaitin (MOH and wedding planner) and her boss Rhonda of Precisely as Planned for keeping everything running so smoothly. This family also hired many other professionals I love to work alongside with, and that was definitely a factor in how wonderfully this day went!
