ty + brooke • wedding at autumn oaks

I have known Brooke for several years through church and have had the pleasure of watching her grow, fall in love, and become a really beautiful woman who is surely impacting the Kingdom. I was honored that she asked Shawn and I to photograph her wedding in December.

I hadn't met Ty until the day of his wedding, but when I did, it was clear why Brooke can't hold her smile back when she is around him. He is fun, caring and thoughtful- a perfect compliment to his bride.

These two were clearly having SO MUCH FUN on their wedding day- which is pretty much ideal in my book! Their wedding day was full of sentiment- sweet times of prayer, people close to them leading the ceremony, and special music. But the excitement they were feeling was totally contagious- like a huge dollop of whipped icing on top of an already scrumptious cupcake.

I absolutely loved the mismatched bridesmaids' dresses and the gorgeous florals from Lou Dee's Floral and Gift. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Lust!

carter + katelin • wedding

Carter + Katelin's wedding was at First Christian Church in Lubbock- one of my favorite churches to photograph because of all the Spanish architecture. To add to that, this bride and groom were absolutely wonderful to work with. They are both incredibly thoughtful people- and their wedding had a timeless, classic feel that I loved soaking up.

We had enough time before the ceremony to get some dramatic portraits of both Carter and Katelin- and shooting those images was not only fun but inspiring- they were the perfect subjects for that type of light and I'm thankful for their willingness to experiment with me.

Congratulations, you two! Wishing you a lifetime of great adventures.

will + aries • autumn oaks event center

I have been so excited to shoot at Autumn Oaks Event Center for the first time, and was honored that Aries & Will gave me that opportunity. Aries planned most of her wedding from San Antonio- which is quite a feat, but thankfully she had the help of great family and friends. I know that it must have felt so relieving to finally see it all come together. I loved the pinks and navy with the crisp, clean white. Most of all, I loved seeing these two together after the ceremony- they just looked so at home with each other. Thank you so much for the honor of shooting your wedding!

ross + kandace • wedding

I honestly think I could owe half the happiness I've experienced this year to one family- seriously! Kandace and her sister, Haley, were married within 4 months of each other, and it has been so wonderful working with them- I am sure I will miss seeing their faces and getting to celebrate their joys!

Ross + Kandace's wedding was at The Legacy in downtown Lubbock. It was full of gorgeous florals from The Fig & Flower Co., and I loved the light pinks and greens mixed with the classic neutrals and lace in Kandace's dress.

I always love the time I have to photograph the couple alone- during that short period, all of the stress and anxiety seems to melt away and I am truly able to see the relationship. I will not forget seeing the look on Ross's face when it was finally time to be photographed with his new wife- it was obvious he treasures her. There was a peace and excitement about both of them- all the planning and the waiting was over, and now it was time to celebrate and just be married!

I have so many favorites from this wedding- this is just a small portion of them! Congratulations, Ross and Kandace!

How much would I love to photograph a wedding inside of one of my favorite art galleries in Lubbock? VERY, VERY MUCH. That gallery would be the LHUCA, and the couple that let me do that would be Adam + Megan. These two were very intentional about many aspects of their wedding, which really made it a fun experience. It was also incredible to watch them during their ceremony, where emotions ranged from nervous anticipation, to pure enjoyment, holy reverence, and joy. Loved it all.

Oh, and you also need to know that Megan spent 10 hours adding the gemstones to her wedding shoes- that's a serious DIY! Thanks, Adam + Megan for having us- and congratulations!

garrett + brytni • destination wedding • playa del carmen, mexico

I am convinced there isn't a more beautiful landscape than the turquoise-blue water of the Riviera Maya. It's stunningly beautiful. Add all your closest family and friends, and it becomes quite magical. Shawn and I got to be a part of Garrett and Brytni's wedding celebration- and I can't tell you how honored we felt to be there- to witness the joy and laughter and gorgeous scenery firsthand.

I'll look back on this day and think of all the laughter we got to photograph. This crew was so laid-back and just straight up happy to be in paradise. There were great food and drinks, some hilarious scripture translation, scantily-clad onlookers to the ceremony, and mad dance skills. Garrett and Brytni- thank you so much for having us along- and congratulations!

jared + kara • wedding • ransom canyon ranch house

One of the hidden gems in our area is Ransom Canyon and Buffalo Springs Lake- it's just a few minutes outside of town, and it is such a welcome change of landscape- water, hills, TREES!

I was excited to shoot out there for Jared + Kara's wedding, especially knowing that their ceremony would be outdoors, overlooking the lake. The weather changed the plans, though- rain poured for several days before and even the morning of. Undaunted, the couple moved their ceremony inside, friends and family helped decorate, and it was no less perfect. We were still able to get some shooting done outside- the rain came shortly after we finished up!

I have to thank Kara for being willing to tromp through the mud in her wedding dress (thank goodness she was already wearing boots) to get a few images in the swings. It's one of my favorite images, and also one of those times I was really thankful we didn't end up with a muddy wedding dress :). Worth it!

russell + jaclyn • wedding • cotton creek barn

I can't wait to tell you about how excited I was to shoot at Cotton Creek Barn for the first time. It's a new-ish venue to the Lubbock area, located in New Home, TX.

I also can't wait to show you all the beautiful things I got to photograph while I was there- gorgeous dresses, florals, and special details...

But first, I have to tell you about what I will remember most about this wedding. A number of times- all separately- friends and family members mentioned to me how excited they were that Jaclyn would have Russell and that Russell would have Jaclyn. They told me how deserving they were of each others' love and faithfulness with an attitude of pure excitement and joy for these two. It was amazing- and a total consensus- that this wedding was meant to be. That, my friends, is what a wedding really is.

In West Texas fashion, the wind blew hard that day- but subsided as the sun went down. I was thankful to have clients who truly knew the importance of what we were capturing that day- not a perfect hairstyle, but a perfect celebration!

I am sure I narrowed my images down more than once- but had so many favorites to share with you! Enjoy!
