Spirit Ranch Wedding

josh + hannah • wedding at spirit ranch

Josh and Hannah had the most beautiful autumn wedding at Spirit Ranch. I could not get enough of the rich plum and bright orange colors and how they complimented Hannah's lace dress. These two are high school sweethearts, and so it was extra special to photograph it with my high school sweetheart. :)

As always, I love shooting at Spirit Ranch and Market Street killed it with the florals! Congrats Josh and Hannah!

Ryan + Bailey had a perfect wedding at Spirit Ranch. These two kept everything so consistent with their style- which made for a very laid-back, fun event.

Bailey wore her mother's wedding dress- which was so, so perfect on her. She walked down the aisle with bare feet which is perfectly Bailey.  I loved that these two asked their guests to keep from photographing their ceremony so that they could truly be a part of it- you would be amazed at how many phones and iPads I have to work around during the average wedding ceremony. They also let their wedding party sit on the front row during most of the ceremony- which made it really intimate and special. This is the first wedding I've ever shot where the bride and groom played rock, paper scissors to see who read their vows first! It was cute and a perfect representation of these two.

At the reception, guests played yard games while they ate delicious breakfast for dinner (such a genius idea!). I was thankful the couple let us steal the for a few minutes to get some portraits with the setting sun. Excited for these two! Congrats and KCCO!

I have such a fun wedding to share today. Bride Haley is a constant smile, and her husband Ethan is the perfect compliment! And on the day of their wedding, the enthusiasm was contagious. Spirit Ranch was looking beautiful and especially green for March- and I could not wait to photograph Haley + Ethan's ceremony beneath the trees. And you guys- it was BEAUTIFUL. The coordinator wisely waited just a few extra minutes- so that the setting sun was at just the perfect spot- to begin the music. The orange glow of the sunset washed over us all as they said their vows. It was simply gorgeous.

I adored the florals from The Fig & Flower Co. as well as the table and reception decor. We felt so honored to photograph this wedding and are so excited for this couple! Enjoy!

Brady + Haley were married at one of my favorite venues, on a gorgeous day, and I got to work with some of my favorite vendors. These guys are the BEST of the best- hire them (check out their vendor list at the bottom of the post). They turn potential hiccups into high fives and make ugly church rooms look like beautiful cathedrals. Not that we had any ugly on this day- trust me, there was a whole lot of pretty.

I couldn't get over all the color at this wedding! I loved how Haley incorporated all the beautiful shades and kept it romantic. It perfectly fit her. It can be easy to get caught up in the details of the wedding day, but it was evident that these two truly enjoyed their day. The fabulous reception ended with a surprise helicopter send off! The helicopter landed just as the guests were lining up to send them off- I was in awe of the giant propellers and the force of wind that they created. I'm not sure there is a more epic way to go out.

Thank you guys for letting us photograph your wedding day. Congratulations!

Zak + Christina • Wedding • Spirit Ranch

It rained on Zak and Christina's wedding day. And Christina cried. But not for the reasons you may think. I'll just let her tell you why:

"Unfortunately we had a bad weather alert about 20 minutes prior to when the OUTDOOR ceremony was to begin so everything had to be moved inside to what was part of the previous reception site. While this is probably most bride's nightmare (and I will admit it was mine too), it was pulled off smoothly and no one had any idea the ceremony was even supposed to be outside - this was made possible by my numerous and wonderful family and friends. Everyone was so willing and eager to jump in to help to make my day as perfect as possible. I even had some good friends (not in bridal party) who as soon as they heard about bad weather rushed over early to help.

I ended up crying but it wasn't because we had to move the ceremony inside it was because I was truly touched by what amazing family and friends I have. Which leads me to say that as a future bride my number one advice isn't to fret about your wedding day going perfect, it is about enjoying that special time with all the people who surround you and are there to support you on your new life journey."

Talk about having your priorities straight! It was so wonderful to watch Zak and Christina cope with the impending weather and still squeeze every ounce of celebration out of their wedding day. I will never forget seeing those amazing friends and family move everything inside lightning fast (haha- no pun intended)- it was evidence of their love for these two! I loved working with them so much- here are some of my favorite images!

It rained all morning and most of the afternoon on David + Kay's wedding day. I can't lie and say that it didn't add an extra layer of stress, considering the beautiful outdoor ceremony Kay had envisioned- but what is most amazing about how the rain affected this day is that it only made things better. Spirit Ranch (one of my favorite venues here in Lubbock) was transformed into this moody, romantic, intimate place with the cloud cover. Thankfully, David and Kay were up for shooting outside in the sprinkles and it made for some beautiful images. The wetness did force us inside for the ceremony, but it also forced us all to remember what was most important- that these two would be married, and that their friends and family were all there to see it.

These two are true artisans, and incorporated much of their own music into their day. David wrote and performed a song to propose to Kay, which they also danced to- and each of them also wrote and recorded songs for their parents, which was played during those dances. It was very special.

Did I mention I love October weddings? If not, I do. I love the colors, the cool in the air, and the people. Brides- please get married in October. And don't be afraid to walk in the wet leaves. That's where the best pictures are. :)
