Little Zaya Rae was so, so sweet during her session. She hardly fussed, and sat wide-eyed while we buzzed around her. I've had the pleasure of photographing her parents and brother for several years now- and seeing beautiful little Zaya- she is such a perfect addition. Thanks for letting me capture your tiny new addition!

CommentLast week I got to go visit baby Shaddix and is parents at their home in Snyder. This little guy is just adorable- so tiny but so alert- and clearly fond of his mommy and daddy. I've known Arthur and Alex for a few years now- I shot their engagement session way back when- and it was so neat to see them transition into parents, and a family of 3. Meet the coolest new kid on the block- Shaddix!

1 CommentMiss Emma Elizabeth may be the most relaxed baby I have ever photographed. During her session, she remained completely asleep (except for one short bottle-drinking stint). She never woke up! Not. Even. Once. Friends, that is crazy. And great for a photographer/parents who would like to get some pretty baby photos. :)
Since Thomas and Kendra (her parents) are in our circle of friends, I am so excited to have another playdate for Knox, and more friends that can relate to our parenting victories and struggles. And these two are going to be really great parents. It's such a blessing to watch a baby (and family) grow- and to get to capture them at special times in life! Here is sweet baby Emma Elizabeth...
P.S. Thomas is a drummer, so you'll see we included his drums in some of the images. Don't worry- no babies or bass drums were harmed...

4 CommentsWe had the perfect overcast morning to do Gus's newborn photoshoot. Since it wasn't too long ago that I shot big brother Dax's photos, we styled some of the poses/locations after his. Looking at this sweet baby reminds me of God's creativity and craftsmanship- when Gus was first born, I thought he looked so much like Dax- but it's clear he is a very different boy! Still, though, he fits right in. It's amazing.
Thank you Becky (Gee, Guh, Gran) for helping!
I feel like the photo on the right accurately captures Dax's "Best Day Ever" face- haha!

1 CommentBaby Kapri made her entrance into the world just a few weeks ago- to the delight of her parents and older sister, Chloie, who has been anticipating her before she was even in the womb! She is such a beautiful, peaceful baby who is the perfect addition to this family that I love. We shot this session on a dreary, rainy Saturday morning and it was just so nice to be in the comfort of their home, capturing images that truly reflect where they are in life right now! Here are some of my favorites:

3 CommentsI'm not sure how to even begin this post!
I know that every child is a miracle of God, but I will always think of Hannah when I am reminded of God's miracles- because her story is one I got to personally witness. This sweet baby has been well prayed for, and she arrived two days before my birthday on November 28th. Her parents are simply amazing and so proud of her, as they should be. I got to take a few photos of them yesterday- here are my favorites:
Emily- if you're reading this- I would like to pre-order one of these onesies for my future baby girl...if we ever have one! (No, I am not pregnant!)
This bassinet was made by Hannah's grandfather- sure to be a family heirloom.
The correlation behind Hannah's name and this scripture is no coincidence. Read Hannah of the Bible's story HERE.

CommentThe last time I saw Matthew + Kaci they looked like this:
But this time, they brought me to their home in Lamesa, where things looked a little more like this!
Baby Cooper is here! He was the most patient, sweet boy through the whole photoshoot. And just so you know, I'm about to post a LOT of pictures. They were too hard to say no to.
Cooper's room is just so awesome- Kaci and I have a very similar style, so you can imagine my excitement when I walked in and saw all the goodness!
They brought this bassinet to their maternity session, so it was neat to see it finally filled!

3 CommentsMiss Presley Kaye has mad her big debut into the world! I was lucky to photograph her when she was only 12 days old. It's such an honor for me when clients invite me into their homes and allow me to capture such a new little person! This little girl knows her parents- it was amazing to watch her relax and enjoy them holding her and loving on her. Here are some of my favorites from my time with this sweet family!
This was Presley's first time on her tummy- and I think she kinda liked it!
They had my favorite swaddle blankets- Aden + Anais. So light and perfect!
I love this print- an Etsy find!

5 CommentsHere he is! Mr. Dax Dietz. Dax is the brand-new son of our very good friends, Zach and Shanna. He arrived just 10 days after we shot Shanna's Maternity Session- 2 weeks early! So we actually ended up doing his newborn shoot one day before his due date. This guy spent about a week in the NICU and has proven to be one tough little man! (Plus, he has some pretty amazing, God-trusting parents.) Now that he's home, he's quite comfortable...and I'm sure he and Knox will be up to no good before we know it!
After going through the images from this session, I selected my favorites...there were only 43 of them, haha! So, here is the very narrowed-down selection of favorites I have from this session!
I think you can see a little of Dax's cousin, baby Atlynn, in this image on the right. Red hair runs in the family- on both sides!
I love that when babies cry, they cry with everything they've got...and I still think it's cute...so I take pictures.
A (little) update!
5 CommentsIt's been one month since Knox was born, and it seems like time has just flown by...and at the same time, dragged on. He keeps growing and changing (as does any sense of "routine" around here), and still I couldn't tell you what I've been doing for the past few weeks, haha. I am absolutely loving all the tiny new developments he makes day-to-day- smiling a little bit bigger, following us with his eyes, recognizing our voices, and holding our hands when he's having a bottle. He is such a precious, laid-back child. We took a little trip with some friends to Santa Fe last weekend and he was such a great little traveler! (Plus, we have some very patient and caring friends.) I'm sure some people must have thought I was crazy toting around a 1 month old in the cold (don't worry- he was kept very warm!), but being able to adventure with Knox has been one of the things Shawn and I looked forward to most.
Personally, I've felt a little blindsided at times. I'm not sure I would have ever been able to fully prepare myself for this transition (haha- if I could have, you KNOW I would have!). I've longed for some sense of a schedule- any bit of organization I could get! Everyone has said that it just takes time, which I'm finding to be true. Yesterday I realized that I've basically taken on a new career as Mommy and now have two jobs. (You mothers reading this are probably thinking "Yeah, duh!"). Seeing life this way has helped tons- instead of worrying about what I'm not getting done, I can focus on doing what I can well. I still have a passion for photography, my clients and my business. I can't wait to be shooting again. People have asked if I will stop shooting weddings- the answer is no! We have a jam-packed summer planned this year and so many exciting spring shoots.
I've done my best to document this little guy week-to-week, and I have to say it has been a challenge! I'm finally gaining some organization and energy back, but in those first few weeks finding the time to shower was a victorious occasion. Did I mention we have AWESOME family and friends? They have SO been there for us- doing everything like bringing yummy homemade meals to making grocery runs to restocking toilet paper and cleaning. Their kind attitudes have been such a blessing- and a great reminder to just enjoy the process. Thank you all for loving us so much!
Finally- here are a few pictures of weeks 1,2, and 3- you can see that poor Knox has dealt very patiently with his mother's every whim for a photo. :)
