Zach + Allyson • Wedding • Bar Z Winery, Amarillo

I absolutely loved getting to shoot Zach and Allyson's wedding. Beautiful light, wonderful people with the BEST attitudes. Really. These two were surrounded by a great crew that made it a really fun and special first day of marriage for Zach and Allyson.

The ceremony was held at Central Church of Christ in Amarillo and I gushed over the beautiful light in the narthex and bridal suite- I wish I could have packaged it up and taken it home with me! Many of my favorite images were created in that light. The weather remained bright and sunny until it was time to head to the reception at Bar Z Winery, which is an amazing venue that overlooks Palo Duro Canyon. That's when the clouds started to roll in. Big, black clouds. Sure enough, they hit pretty hard- but not before we were able to get some great portraits in with those storm clouds!

At that point, Allyson (along with her family, Zach, and his family) could have started to panic. There were two outdoor tents along with at least a dozen tables, a buffet and a dance floor outside. But they didn't-- and I loved the way Allyson recalled it:

"My most memorable part of the day was standing outside at the reception. Wind was blowing, storm clouds were about to burst, people were frantically running inside trying to move things, and I was in the midst of saving a center piece when I made direct eye contact with my mother. She picked up a center piece, threw it up in the air for the wind to catch and just said oh well. I responded by doing the same. In that moment it hit me that none of this really matters. The only thing that mattered was I was married to Zach, and the Lord has blessed us with an incredible amount of love and support."

So perfect. Thank you guys for letting us capture this for you! Congrats!

I loved being in the small town of Wellington, TX for the marriage of these two special people. Being there at Larkin's hometown church, surrounded by her and Ory's long-time friends and family ready to step in and help however they could- knowing that all of those faces were genuinely ecstatic for this couple...it was so much fun.

There were so many gorgeous details put together by the always-inspiring Parie of Parie Designs- and I LOVED the mint + navy winter color scheme. It was cold outside, but the sweet treats and classic decor were perfect for the occasion.

Since both Ory and Larkin are from small West Texas towns, they chose to mix dirt from each of their respective cities as their "unity candle" during the ceremony. If you know how important farming is to this area, you understand what significance the ground holds- not only the foundation for all, but the place where growth is cultivated. Pretty insightful for a couple on their first day of marriage, if you ask me. :)

On to the photos- please enjoy! These guys were so, so wonderful to work with- and I appreciate their trust so much. Congrats you two!

I have known Tyler all my life- well, all his life, really- and I can't tell you how excited I am about his engagement to Maegan. Tyler is one of those people who I have hoped and prayed for an excellent, God-loving, fun, beautiful wife- and Maegan is all of those things and more. I was so excited to get to shoot their engagement session over Christmas. Shawn came along and got several of these shots as well. We had a great time hanging out with them and are so excited for their future! Congrats you guys!

Oh my...I loved shooting this session! This year, more than ever before, I have fallen in love with the cool winter light that comes this time of year. Don't get me wrong- it was fah-reezing (yes, with two syllables)...and Crista was wearing a dress and somehow still looking totally beautiful.

I have known Crista for all her life- she is my cousin and I'm so thankful for her and her family. This was my first time meeting Jarrett, who I'd heard (from my grandmother) was very cute. :) Turns out she was right- and he is also a perfect match for Crista. There's nothing I love more about my job than getting to witness two different people share one relationship- it is nothing short of a God-miracle- and I am so happy that these two are getting to experience that, together.

They told me one of their favorite things to do together was to have a glass of wine and play gin rummy (told you they were cool), and so of course we had to set up a little game for them! Thanks Mom & Dad for your assistance with the setting. :)

Here are some of my favorites from our windy-cold yet beautiful winter day!

There is so much I loved about Mark and Tara's wedding. First- the people- I am proud to call them family and it was so special for me to get to photograph this wedding. Second- the emphasis on Christ. There were so many symbolic and intentional elements incorporated. The most prevalent was the shofar. At the beginning of the ceremony, a shofar (a ram's horn) was blown just before the Mark walked down the aisle. The Bible says that this is the sound we will hear as Christ comes back for his church. It was incredible to hear the sound and watch Mark walk into the sanctuary, waiting expectantly for Tara.

It was a blessing to watch Mark and Tara's excitement for marriage (not just the wedding) and see them love on others throughout their wedding day. The ceremony was at the beautiful First Baptist Church in Amarillo, and the reception was at Happy State Bank.

I'm also in love with all the details- my mom and friends were behind it all! I loved the grey and gold color scheme and my grandpa's maize in the floral arrangements. They did an incredible job.

Enjoy some of my favorites!

Greg and Kristy were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Amarillo just a few weeks ago. The air is beginning to feel more crisp and cool, and it lent a new feeling of excitement for their wedding day. Kristy is an expert planner and had so many details perfectly executed. They truly had a fun day with guests from all over coming to celebrate.

Greg had been in charge of booking the honeymoon- and he'd kept it a secret until the reception, where he revealed their destination- Turtle Island, Fiji! Go ahead, Google it and drool over the images like I did. :) I'm pretty sure they had an awesome time.

Here are some of my favorite images from their day!

We began shooting Mark and Tara's Engagement session at the grocery store. That's right. It happens to be a special place for them- where their "meet cute" happened. They'd known each other for years, but seeing each other this time, something was different. Shortly thereafter Mark found himself asking Tara's father for permission to date her....and then a little while after that, permission to marry her.

These two were so easy to photograph- their chemistry is real and clear. Both are just fun people to be around. After hearing that they were the wine-and-cheese type, my Mom helped me throw together a few props to complete their session. (Thanks Mom!)

But the wine and cheese almost didn't happen- as we drove to the last location, it started raining. hard. I drove in denial for a while, refusing to turn on my windshield wipers. :) Thankfully, we were given a dry, peaceful little bit to shoot. God is good to us!

Love these two and can't wait for their wedding!

Bryan and Sarah are so, so right for each other. It's easy to see. They are both funny and easygoing- and they are both adventurers. A number of times during their engagement session I felt a tinge of jealousy after hearing of the amazing trips they've made and plan to make- including an 18 mile kayak through the island of Kauai on their honeymoon!

It's sessions like this that make me so thankful for the fantastic people I get to work with. Can't wait for their wedding next month!

Many of the couples I get to work with book me without ever actually having met me in person. That they would have confidence in me and my work so quickly is a total honor for me and makes me want to work all that much harder to make their photos absolutely perfect.

The first time I met Kristy and Greg face-to-face was just last week, when I shot their engagement session. God gave us a beautiful day to run around Lubbock, and we had a fun time. I really can't wait for their wedding in the fall!

The longer I photographed Kristy, the more I thought she looked like Charlize Theron- do you see it? You are gorgeous, Kristy!
