Shawn and I were so honored to shoot Trevor and Megan's wedding last month. These two are the kind of people you need to know. They are fun, easygoing, completely dependable and caring- and just straight up nice. Plus, they love Jesus and each other. Their wedding day was full of quirks and funny moments, which made it fun for everyone (including their photographers!)- and we loved getting to photograph it all. Here are some of my favorite images!

And here's this one, just because we love you guys...

Brady + Haley were married at one of my favorite venues, on a gorgeous day, and I got to work with some of my favorite vendors. These guys are the BEST of the best- hire them (check out their vendor list at the bottom of the post). They turn potential hiccups into high fives and make ugly church rooms look like beautiful cathedrals. Not that we had any ugly on this day- trust me, there was a whole lot of pretty.

I couldn't get over all the color at this wedding! I loved how Haley incorporated all the beautiful shades and kept it romantic. It perfectly fit her. It can be easy to get caught up in the details of the wedding day, but it was evident that these two truly enjoyed their day. The fabulous reception ended with a surprise helicopter send off! The helicopter landed just as the guests were lining up to send them off- I was in awe of the giant propellers and the force of wind that they created. I'm not sure there is a more epic way to go out.

Thank you guys for letting us photograph your wedding day. Congratulations!

Zach + Allyson • Wedding • Bar Z Winery, Amarillo

I absolutely loved getting to shoot Zach and Allyson's wedding. Beautiful light, wonderful people with the BEST attitudes. Really. These two were surrounded by a great crew that made it a really fun and special first day of marriage for Zach and Allyson.

The ceremony was held at Central Church of Christ in Amarillo and I gushed over the beautiful light in the narthex and bridal suite- I wish I could have packaged it up and taken it home with me! Many of my favorite images were created in that light. The weather remained bright and sunny until it was time to head to the reception at Bar Z Winery, which is an amazing venue that overlooks Palo Duro Canyon. That's when the clouds started to roll in. Big, black clouds. Sure enough, they hit pretty hard- but not before we were able to get some great portraits in with those storm clouds!

At that point, Allyson (along with her family, Zach, and his family) could have started to panic. There were two outdoor tents along with at least a dozen tables, a buffet and a dance floor outside. But they didn't-- and I loved the way Allyson recalled it:

"My most memorable part of the day was standing outside at the reception. Wind was blowing, storm clouds were about to burst, people were frantically running inside trying to move things, and I was in the midst of saving a center piece when I made direct eye contact with my mother. She picked up a center piece, threw it up in the air for the wind to catch and just said oh well. I responded by doing the same. In that moment it hit me that none of this really matters. The only thing that mattered was I was married to Zach, and the Lord has blessed us with an incredible amount of love and support."

So perfect. Thank you guys for letting us capture this for you! Congrats!

Zak + Christina • Wedding • Spirit Ranch

lissa-anglinComment

It rained on Zak and Christina's wedding day. And Christina cried. But not for the reasons you may think. I'll just let her tell you why:

"Unfortunately we had a bad weather alert about 20 minutes prior to when the OUTDOOR ceremony was to begin so everything had to be moved inside to what was part of the previous reception site. While this is probably most bride's nightmare (and I will admit it was mine too), it was pulled off smoothly and no one had any idea the ceremony was even supposed to be outside - this was made possible by my numerous and wonderful family and friends. Everyone was so willing and eager to jump in to help to make my day as perfect as possible. I even had some good friends (not in bridal party) who as soon as they heard about bad weather rushed over early to help.

I ended up crying but it wasn't because we had to move the ceremony inside it was because I was truly touched by what amazing family and friends I have. Which leads me to say that as a future bride my number one advice isn't to fret about your wedding day going perfect, it is about enjoying that special time with all the people who surround you and are there to support you on your new life journey."

Talk about having your priorities straight! It was so wonderful to watch Zak and Christina cope with the impending weather and still squeeze every ounce of celebration out of their wedding day. I will never forget seeing those amazing friends and family move everything inside lightning fast (haha- no pun intended)- it was evidence of their love for these two! I loved working with them so much- here are some of my favorite images!

ory + larkin • wedding • wellington, tx

I loved being in the small town of Wellington, TX for the marriage of these two special people. Being there at Larkin's hometown church, surrounded by her and Ory's long-time friends and family ready to step in and help however they could- knowing that all of those faces were genuinely ecstatic for this couple...it was so much fun.

There were so many gorgeous details put together by the always-inspiring Parie of Parie Designs- and I LOVED the mint + navy winter color scheme. It was cold outside, but the sweet treats and classic decor were perfect for the occasion.

Since both Ory and Larkin are from small West Texas towns, they chose to mix dirt from each of their respective cities as their "unity candle" during the ceremony. If you know how important farming is to this area, you understand what significance the ground holds- not only the foundation for all, but the place where growth is cultivated. Pretty insightful for a couple on their first day of marriage, if you ask me. :)

On to the photos- please enjoy! These guys were so, so wonderful to work with- and I appreciate their trust so much. Congrats you two!

Ahhh, a December wedding. I hate that the sun goes down oh-so-quickly this time of year, but I also love it when we have clients that trust us enough to embrace the shadows and create some really dramatic images on their wedding day. Ted and Jennifer were so much fun to be around on their big day. These two have got to be some of the most easygoing people I know- they and their families were entirely welcoming and warm, making their wedding day a really special time. It is a real honor when we feel like guests ourselves! Here are some of my favorite images from their wedding day- I was really loving black and white for so many of these images. Enjoy!

colten + sharlyn • wedding • mcpherson cellars, lubbock tx

"Pretty much the only thing that I'm not worried about is you," she said with a laugh.

That's the statement I heard from Sharlyn a few weeks before her wedding- in the thick of the last-few-things-to-get-done time, when wedding planning can seem quite overwhelming and you've got forty things that need to be checked off the list. Quite responsibly, she and her mother were meeting with vendors and checking and double-checking before the big day. Now, of course, she wasn't commenting on her marriage or her fiancé, or any of the big, life-changing stuff that happens on your wedding day...but hearing her say those words made me so thankful.

I love that she trusted me that much- even before I had taken one photo of her. It made me want to work that much harder for her and Colten.

The big day arrived, and it was unmistakably one of the prettiest November days I've ever experienced in West Texas. We began at McPherson Cellars for portraits, and then headed to Broadway Church of Christ for the ceremony. These two had a great group of people around them and it was a great celebration! Thank you, Colten, Sharlyn and your families, for trusting us. And congratulations!

tony + beth • wedding • southwind hills, norman, ok

lissa-anglinComment

Tony + Beth were married last month at Southwind Hills- a beautiful place just south of Norman, OK. It was a chilly November day, but the sky was clear, and maybe it's because I was married in the wintertime...there is just something I love about an intimate winter soirée.

The venue was immaculate, as was the delicious meal and so many of the special details Tony + Beth had planned (colorful argyle socks? popcorn bar? Sign me up!). Above all that, these two were so excited to be getting married- it was written all over their faces.

Enjoy these photos from their day- congratulations you two, thank you so much for having us!

lissa-anglinComment

One of my favorite things about living in a university town is that people are always going through new life changes- graduating college, moving, and getting engaged!

Kendall contacted me to document his proposal to Isabel on the Texas Tech campus. It was so sweet and Isabel had the best reaction. Knowing this couple for only a few minutes, I could feel their excitement at the culmination of their dating/college years. This is why I love my job! Congrats you two!

I really think that I laughed the entire session with these two- they are constantly cracking each other up and it's so clear that they truly enjoy each other. I love, love, love shooting in October- definitely my favorite month to photograph anything. Omar and Amy will be getting married next June and I loved getting to hear about how they met and got engaged. Thank you guys for a great session!
