One of the biggest reasons I loved Chris + Tomiscena's engagement shoot was that it was full of sentiment. Each location we shot at was a special place for this couple- represented something, or was the actual place they enjoyed while getting to know each other. It seems simple, really- but I love that these images will be a direct reflection of this point in their lives. Looking back, I wish I had more photos of Shawn and myself at the Wayland Baptist cafeteria, or the gym, or in the neighborhood we both grew up in. I think it would only make my memories more colorful.

That's what I'm hoping these images do for these two. For our first location, they wore exactly what they'd been wearing on their first date, when they wandered into the children's book section at Barnes & Noble after dinner. Then, we went to their favorite park for evening walks. And lastly, we ended up at the National Ranching Heritage Center- an homage to Chris's many years working on ranches.

They'll be getting married in a few short months- can't wait!

When I first met with Grace, I was completely in love with her zest for life. She is a romantic, a go-getter, and enthusiastic. Who wouldn't want to be friends with her? I also fell in love with she and Kirk's love story. At the time, Kirk was deployed in Japan, awaiting orders to come home. Their wedding was planned for two days after his arrival back to West Texas. Because of that, we weren't able to do an engagement photoshoot- but Grace had better plans. Would I like to photograph his homecoming at the airport, and then do a vintage-inspired engagement shoot immediately after? Uh, yes. SIGN ME UP.

Seriously, I am so blessed to know these two and their families. They love the Lord and just the fact that they could pull off something like a homecoming/engagement shoot/wedding in one weekend testifies to the fact that they wanted nothing more than to be together- and married.

Enjoy!

jamie + annabelle • wedding at tierra del corazon

lissa-anglinComment

I had conversed with Annabelle over email for months before actually getting to meet her and Jamie in person. Instantly, her Venezuelan accent made me feel at home (my Brazilian sister, Mariana, sounds almost exactly the same- well, to this Texan anyway). I got to hear about their meeting and their wedding day plans...I loved seeing how this couple had a simple vision for the day that still incorporated so many special people.

She and Jamie were such a pleasure to work for and photograph. Their wedding was at Tierra del Corazon, in New Deal, Texas. It was a beautiful night and getting to work with this loving and affectionate couple was just icing on the cake. I could have shot in the fields out there forever!

Annabelle filled a "unity piñata" with candy and they broke it at the reception. They did forget the rope to hang it with, but it made it even more fun that they had to hold it for each other. It was a fun detail that everyone loved!

Now that Kinsey is a Mrs. I am excited to share her bridal session with you! I am so in love with her classic and elegant style. Kinsey told me she had a heart for old romance, and I think she nailed that look. We shot a portion of her bridals at the beautiful Watson Building here in Lubbock, and then headed outdoors for a few more. Kinsey also had a gorgeous silk flower bouquet (I'll post the vendor link with the wedding post).

Kinsey, you are such a beautiful bride!

After working with Bryan and Sarah, I'm not sure there are more thoughtful, kind, intentional people out there. These two were so much fun to capture as they transitioned form two to one.

Sarah had thought of everything. There were so many sentimental and special details sprinkled throughout the wedding day, I was amazed she'd had time to consider and execute them all!

Bryan and Sarah were married in the same church I was many years ago- First Baptist Church, Borger, and had their reception at one of the prettiest places in the Panhandle- Three Falls Cove. Enjoy their images!

The most memorable part of our day for me was definitely our first dance. We were nervous about looking like we didn’t know how to dance, so we started teaching ourselves how to “fancy two-step” from a YouTube video a week before our wedding. We practiced every evening and had a ton of fun while doing it.

Sarah’s mom’s toast was hilarious. She asked God to turn the ankles of our enemies so that we would know them by their limps — hilarious!

I thought this note from Sarah was helpful:

We wouldn’t change a thing! Okay, maybe we’d change one thing. We bought WAY too much wine, beer, and champagne. Many people online recommend one drink per guest per hour, and (for our wedding, at least) we have a ton left over.
— Sarah

These two spent a little over a week in Hawaii for their honeymoon and I enjoyed living vicariously through them as they kayaked, ate, and explored.

Many congratulations, you two!

I so enjoyed photographing this wedding- it was perfect in so many ways. Ryan and Jerrica were (and are!) clearly in love, ready to be married. Their friends and family were there being so helpful and loving- and ready to have a great time. We had a beautiful January day and everything just flowed so smoothly. Before every wedding, Shanna and I pray that we will be a blessing to the people we are working with and for that day. This day, they were a blessing to me

One of my favorite things about Ryan and Jerrica's day was the Bible that she carried. It has been carried by many generations of brides in Jerrica's family, and each one has signed it after they were wed. What a special heirloom!

I got to photograph Justin and Angela's engagement session last week, and the weather was so beautiful! It was a perfect day- and these two were so wonderful to photograph. They were sweet to each other, and great parents to their son, Austin, who kept me laughing the entire time. He is such a sweet boy. I hope you enjoy these images!

Zane + Danya are doing the long distance thing right now- one in Abilene, one in Austin- but wanted to come back to their Alma Mater for their engagement photos. I loved walking with them through the Texas Tech campus and hearing their engagement story. These two are just great- friendly, comfortable, and fun. We had some beautiful fall light that morning- I loved every bit of it!

I met with Chris and Amanda for a morning Engagement Session last week. Ahhhh, how I love morning sessions. It's usually cooler and the sun is shining a pretty, clean light allowing us different locations to shoot than in the evening. We had a great time and made stops at some very sentimental places for them- including the place where they first met and where Chris proposed. These two are so sweet with each other- and just seem to know each other so well. Enjoy!

Kinsey mentioned this quote in her Engagement Questionnaire I sent before their shoot- and it is so fitting for these two. Travis and Kinsey are definitely meant to be- they are so similar but at the same time their differences seem to balance each other. I loved getting to photograph these two!

They both have a love for old romance- and we were able to incorporate Travis's family's vintage car into the shoot. I felt like we'd been transported back in time. Hope you enjoy these images as much as I do!
